History

The first education board that was set up in the year 1921 in India for the development of studies was the Uttar Pradesh Board of High School and Intermediate Education. This board was managed and administered by the provinces of Rajputana, Central India and Gwalior. However later in the year 1929, the Indian government established a joint Board for the provinces of Ajmer, Merwara, Central India and Gwalior which was named as “Board of High School and Intermediate Education, Rajputana” But later this board confined its administration to the provinces of Ajmer, Bhopal and Vindhya Pradesh. In the year 1952, the board came to be known as the “Central Board of Secondary Education”

Affiliations

CBSE affiliates all Kendriya Vidyalayas, all Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, private schools, and most of the schools approved by central government of India

Examinations

The CBSE board conducts final examinations at the end of every academic year for All India Senior School Certificate Examination (AISSCE) for Class 10 and 12. The board also annually conducts the AIEEE exam for admission to undergraduate courses in engineering and architecture in numerous colleges spread over India. It also conducts AIPMT All India Pre medical Test for admission to major medical colleges in India.
