    You can refer the list of books provided on the website, try to develop conceptual and reasoning skills as most of the questions in CSIR require conceptual understanding rather than rote learning.

    It is preferred by most (maximum) institutes that you qualify NET examination, you can continue to appear for NET along with your PhD.

    All these are examinations for lectureship and fellowship for PhD conducted by different organizations. NET is national level while SET is state level examination. UGC is mainly conducted for arts, social sciences and commerce stream while CSIR NET is mostly meant for basic sciences, applied sciences and engineering sciences. ICAR and ICMR are other two examinations will are conducted only for few subjects.

    You can appear for CSIR Life sciences. CSIR is conducted in Life sciences and not environmental sciences.
