CSIR Exam scheme for Engineering Sciences

The MCQ test paper in Engineering Science will be of maximum 200 marks. The time duration of the exam will be three hours. The question paper shall be categorised in the three main parts.

Part ‘A’

This part will comprise of 20 questions of General Aptitude i.e.. Logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparisons, series formation, puzzles etc. The Candidates need to answer any of the 15 questions. Each question will carry 2 marks. Aggregate marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.

Part ‘B’

This part shall contain 25 questions related to Mathematics and Engineering Aptitude. Candidates shall be required to answer any 20 questions. Each question shall be of 3.5 marks. Aggregate marks allocated to this section shall be 70 out of 200.

Part ‘C’

Part ‘C’ will consist of subject related questions of the main 7 subject areas quoted below:

  • Computer Science & Information Technology.
  • Electrical Science.
  • Electronics.
  • Materials Science.
  • Fluid Mechanics.
  • Solid Mechanics.
  • Thermodynamics.

Each subject area will comprise of 10 questions. The Candidates need to answer any of the 20 questions out of a aggregate of 70 questions. Each question will carry 5 marks. The aggregate marks allocated to this part shall be 100 out of 200.

Negative marking for the wrong answers marked will be there at a rate of 25%.
