CSIR-UGC (NET) Exam for Award of Junior Research Fellowship and Eligibility for Lecturership shall be a Single Paper Test will be consisting of Multiple Choice Questions. The question paper will be categorised into three main parts-

Part โ€˜Aโ€™

This part will consist of 20 questions pertaining to General Science, Quantitative Reasoning & Analysis and Research Aptitude. A candidate needs to answer any of the 15 questions. Each question will carry two marks. The aggregate marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.

Part โ€˜Bโ€™

This part will consist of 40 Multiple Choice Questions, Basically it will cover all the topics mentioned in the syllabus. A candidate needs to answer any of the 25 questions. Each question will carry three marks. The aggregate marks allocated to this section shall be 75 out of 200.

Part โ€˜Cโ€™

This part will consist of 60 questions that are aimed to test the candidateีšs knowledge of scientific basics and application of the scientific concepts. The questions shall be analytical in nature where a candidate needs to use the scientific knowledge to get the solution to the given scientific problem. The questions in this part shall have multiple correct options. Credit in a question shall be given only on identification of ALL the correct options. No credit shall be allowed in a question if any incorrect option is marked as correct answer. No partial credit is allowed. A candidate needs to answer any of the 20 questions. Each question will carry 4.75 marks. The aggregate marks allocated to this section shall be 95 out of 200.

  • For Part โ€˜Aโ€™ and โ€˜Bโ€™ Negative marking will prevail at the rate of 25% for every wrong answer marked. No Negative marking is there for Part โ€˜Cโ€™
  • The question paper booklet shall be given 15 minutes before the scheduled time of the exam, So that the candidates can go through with all the questions once, But the Answer sheet shall be given at the scheduled time of the exam.
  • When the exam get over i.e. โ€ฆ At the scheduled closing time of the exam, the candidates shall be allowed to take the Question Paper Booklet with them, But No candidate is allowed to take the Question Paper Booklet, If in case he or she chooses to leave the test before the closing time.
