Syria nodded to join Chemical Weapons Convention

On 14 October 2013 joined Syria the United Nations Chemical Weapons Convention which speaks on production and use of Chemical weapons. Syria is 190th country to join the convention and only six states have sign the international alliance.

The six UN state are not signed the Chemical Weapons Convention are:

  • Israel
  • Myanmar
  • Angola
  • Egypt
  • North Korea
  • South Sudan

Chemical Weapons Convention is multi culture that Chemical Weapons and requires their abolition within a specified period of time. Its arrangement is convention on the prohibition of the development, production and use of Chemical weapons.

13 January 1993 convention is opened for signature and 29 April 1997 entered into force. The CWC is implemented by the organization for prohibition of Chemical Weapons.

The OPCW get states-parties declarations detailing about Chemical Weapons related activities and materials. OPCW is one type of an independent and international body setup in 1997 and it is implemented the CWC.

This organization is involved in destroying Syria's stock of CWC. OPCW is first time worked in war Zone.
