10-point Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue has be announced by India and Pakistan [ Current Affairs ]

For new 10-point Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue (CBD) India and Pakistan are agreed to resume structured dialogue between them. Earlier Resumed Dialogue was structured dialogue with 8-point Composite Dialogue Process (CDP) it is replaced by the 10-point CBD.

And regarding this during meeting between External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Pakistan Prime Minister’s Advisor on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in Islamabad on the side-lines of Hearth of Asia Conference both the countries have issued a joint statement.

The 10-point Comprehensive Bilateral Dialogue (CBD) contains

  1. Peace and security, confidence building measures (CBMs).
  2. Jammu and Kashmir.
  3. Siachen.
  4. Sir Creek Boundary Dispute.
  5. Wullar Barrage/Tulbul Navigation Project.
  6. Economic and Commercial cooperation.
  7. Counter-terrorism, Narcotics control.
  8. People-to-people exchanges.
  9. Humanitarian issues.
  10. Religious tourism.

Apart from all the CDP eight elements CBD also includes two more topics which are: Humanitarian issues and Religious Tourism in the agenda to make the peace process between both countries long lasting.

Issued Joint statement contains

  • Forward talks on terrorism to be conducted by both countries on National Security Advisors (NSAs).
  • Pakistan committed to expedite 26/11 Mumbai attacks trial.
  • Within stipulated time table Secretary-level talks.
  • In 2016, on the occasion of 19th South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) to be held in Islamabad, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Pakistan
