2015 Parliamentary Election of Venezuela Won by Centre-Right MUD Coalition

Parliamentary elections of Venezuela 2015 have won by opposition Centre-right Democratic Unity Roundtable (MUD) coalition. The MUD coalition has won the Election by taking 99 seats from 167 seats. And with this it has bit the ruling party United Socialist Party of Venezuela (PSUV) which current President is Nicolas Maduro.

  • PSUV has won 46 seats in this election and other remaining 22 seats has won by candidates from different parties.
  • With this end of government came who are ruling from last 17 years and it was founded by former President Hugo Chavez in 1999.

  • The Parliamentary election for 167 seats was held on 6th Dec 2015 for the National Assembly of Venezuela.
  • It was based on a mixed majoritarian system.
  • According to this system out of the total 167 members 113 members are elected by first-past-the-post voting in 87 constituencies.
  • And 51 seats are elected from 23 seats and capital district by closed list of relative representation and allocation of seat will be done with the use of dHondt method.
