2015 South East Asia Write Award has been given to J M Sali [ Current Affairs ]


Jamaludeen Mohamed Sali Indian-Singapore writer has been awarded with prestigious 2015 south East Asia Write Award. At the annual ASEAN regional award for literary excellence in Bangkok, Thailand this award has been given to him.

About Jamaludeen Mohamed Sali:

  • J M Sali was born in Madras in 1939.
  • At the age of 25 after he was asked to be of Tamil Murasu newspaper late G Sarangapani has invited him to be an assistant editor, he had moved to Singapore.
  • He had worked in local broadcasting station and created books on famous people including martial art icon Bruce Lee and legendary boxer Muhammad Ali in Singapore.
  • He has been writing form 5o years and has author 57 books, 80 plays and more than 400 short stories.
  • Vellai Kodugal (White Lines) and Alaigal Pesuginrana (the Sound Of The Waves) is most popular sort story written by him and it has being studied by Tamil Literature students in Singapore and Indian universities.

Awards and Honours:

  • Several literary awards have won by him to his credit including Singapore’s prestigious Cultural Medallion.

About Southeast Asian Write Award

  • The award was introduced in 1979.
  • And it is presented annually to poets and writers in Southeast Asia region.
  • Mostly it is given to a writer which belongs to country which is part of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
  • For a specific work of author this award is rebutted or for lifetime achievement.
