26 November 2008 : The day which will be never forgotten by Mumbai [ Current Affairs ]
In November 2008, across Mumbai for the four lasting days 10 Pakistani members of Lashkar - e-Taiba, an Islamic militant organization, carried out a series of 12 coordinated shooting and bombing attacks. This wide attack was activated on Wednesday, 26 November and continued until Saturday, 29 November 2008, during this 164 innocent people are killed and at least 308 was hurt.
In South Mumbai attacks was occurred at Eight places:
- Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus
- The Oberoi Trident
- The Taj Mahal Palace & Tower
- Leopold Cafe
- Cama Hospital
- The Nariman House Jewish community center
- The Metro Cinema
- In a lane behind the Times of India building and St. Xavier’s College.
- There was also a blast at Mazagaon in Mumbai’s port area, and in a taxi at Vile Parle
On 28 November early morning, except Taj hotel all the sites had been secured by Mumbai Police and security forces.
India’s National Security Guards (NSG) conducted ‘Operation Black Tornado’ on 29November to rinse out all the remaining attackers. And this all is ended after bring about death of all remaining attackers at Taj hotel.
Among them all one attacker was kept live named Ajmal Kasab he accepted that the attackers were members of Lashkar - e-Taiba. After that The Government of India said that the attackers came from Pakistan, and they controlled by the member of Laskar - e-Taliban in Pakistan.
On 7 January 2009, Pakistan confirmed that a single surviving criminal from the attackers was a Pakistani citizen.
On 9 April 2015, the main mastermind of the attacks, Zaki Ur Rehman Lakhvi, was decided bail against security bonds of 200, 000.
