6 Singapore Satellites onboard PSLV-C29 has been successfully Launched by ISRO [ Current Affairs ]

India’s first six commercial satellites have been successfully placed by Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) from Singapore in their dedicated orbits. At Satish Dhawan Space Centre Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh the first satellites were launched using Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV-C29).

  • This lunch is also corresponds with 50th anniversary of setting up diplomatic relations between India and Singapore in year 2015.

Key facts

The PSLV-C29 was launched in the core-alone version.

The total lift-off quantity was of 227.6 tones that involved 600 kg payload weight.

It was PSLV’s 32nd space flight and the 31st sequentially successful.

Following six Satellites are launched:

  • TeLEOS-One is a remote sensing satellite with 400 kg weight and it was the major burden, it would be used for urban planning and disaster monitoring of Singapore.
  • VELOX-CI with 123 kg,
  • VELOX-II with 13 kg and 6U-Cubesat technology demonstrator,
  • Athenoxat-1,
  • Kent Ridge-1 with 78 kg and
  • Galassia with 3.4 kg 2U-Cubesat.

At 150 equators all these satellites were successfully launched into a 550 km circular orbit.

More than 55 foreign satellites of 20 countries into space have been successfully launched by ISRO.

US, UK, Japan, Germany, Switzerland and South Korea are ISRO’s customers.
