Anil Kumble resigns as chief mentor of Mumbai Indians [ Current Affairs ]

Previous Indian Test Captain and excellent spinner Anil Kumble has resigned as the Chief Mentor of Indian Premier League (IPL) contract with Mumbai due to some immediate effect. Board of Cricket Council of India (BCCI) has follows his decision that crackdown on conflict of interest in the board.

  • In a prior of November 2015, Ravi Shastri director of Indian cricket team was detached from the IPL Governing Council and also selector Roger Binny was asked to leave.
  • Subsequently from January 2013, Mumbai Indians team had won the IPL and the Champions League in the first year of Mr. Kumble as mentor and once again the IPL cup in 2015.

About Anil Kumble:

  • He was born on 17 October 1970.
  • He made his First - class debut at the age of 19 while representing Karnataka.
  • After that very soon he was selected for the Austral - Asia Cup in 1990.
  • He has represented Indian team in Test Match for more than 132 and also responsible for many victories of India.
  • In history of cricket only two bowlers had taken all 10 wickets in an innings one of them is Mr. Kumble and another one is England’s Jim Laker.
  • He is also India’s highest wicket taker in both Test matches (619 wickets) and one day Internationals (ODIs) (337 wickets).
  • The last Test match of his was India v/s Sri Lanka on 25 April 2008.
  • In February 2015 he was become fourth Indian cricketer who is included into ICC HALL of Fame.
