Nepal Football President Ganesh Thapa Banned for 10 Years by FIFA

World football governing body Fdration Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has banned Ganesh Thapa, President of the All - Nepal Football Association (ANFA) for 10 years. He was banned by FIFA՚s ethics committee over dishonesty claims after the Himalayan country՚s football team՚s image had worsened as its several national football players were accused of match - fixing.

  • FIFA also has banned the Viphet Sihachakr, President of the Laos Football federation for two years over corruption allegations and was fined 39,700 US.
  • FIFA՚s ethics committee also has suspect Thapa for committing various acts of misconduct over several years in his 19 - year tenure as President of ANFA and was fined 19,850 US dollars.
  • Acts of misconduct committed by him includes the solicitation and acceptance of cash payments from another football official, for both personal and family gain.
