Sachin Tendulkar Selected as Tiger Ambassador of Maharashtra

About Sachin Tendulkar: Sachin Tendulkar was born on 24th April 1973. He is a former cricketer as well as captain of Indian Cricket team. He started to play cricket at just age of eleven.

  • He entered in cricket team at the age of sixteen on 15th November 1989 and play against Pakistani cricket team in Karachi.
  • He started play in Mumbai nationally and in Indian team internationally at age of twenty - four.
  • He achieves unique identity with his name by scoring one hundred international centuries.
  • He also became the first batsman who scores a double century in a One Day International.
  • He is only one player who completes more than 30,000 runs in international cricket in Indian History.

  • He received the Arjuna Award in 1994 for his outstanding sporting achievement.
  • He was honoured by Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award in 1997.
  • He also received the Padma Shri 4th highest civilian award in 1999.
  • He achieved Padma Vibhushan awards 2nd highest civilian award in 2008.
  • He also received the Bharat Ratna (India՚s highest civilian award) for winning 2013 match.

About his selection as ambassador:

  • Sachin Tendulkar is selected as Tiger Ambassador by Maharashtra Government for the Tiger Saving Project.
  • His association will help to increase awareness about saving the tigers in the state to state government.
