World Happiness Report 2015 Released

The World Happiness Report 2015 was released by the Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) an initiative under the United Nations among 158 countries and is aimed at influencing government policy. Top five countries recently released World Happiness Report 2015 among the 158 studied nations are-

  1. Switzerland (1st)
  2. Iceland (2nd)
  3. Denmark (3rd)
  4. Norway (4th) and
  5. Canada (5th)

Bottom five countries are Rwanda (154th) , Benin (155th) , Syria (156th) , Burundi (157th) and Togo (158th) . The study based its rankings on data from the Gallup World Poll and takes into account variables such as real GDP per capita, healthy life expectancy, corruption levels and social freedoms.

India was placed at 117th position in the recently released World Happiness Report 2015 among the 158 studied nations.

Other major countries are ranking wise- United States (15th) , United Kingdom (21th) , Japan (46th) and China (84th) and India is ranked below countries like Pakistan (81st) , Bangladesh (109th) , Ukraine (111th) and Iraq (112th) .

The Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) was first time released rank in 2012 and it is comprised of people from academia, government and the private sector and was first launched in 2012.

The report aims at influencing government policy and it is prepared based upon study undertaken by Gallup World Poll.
