About Morton Mower: Dr. Morton M. Mower is an American cardiologist and the co-inventor of the automatic implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) . An ICD is a battery-powered device placed under the skin that keeps track of our heart rate.

- If an irregular heartbeat is detected the device will deliver an electric shock to restore a normal heartbeat if your heart is beating untidily or too fast.

About Michael Marmot:
- Sir Michael Gideon Marmot is Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health at University College London.
- He is currently serves as director ofThe UCL Institute of Health Equity Professor.
- He has led research groups on health disparities for over 35 years.
- He was Chairperson of the Commission on Social Determinants of Health (CSDH) , which was set up by theWorld Health Organization in 2005 and formed “Closing the Gap in a Generation” in August 2008.
