5,000 MW a remarkable capacity has been crossed by Grid-linked solar generation of India [ Current Affairs ]

Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy have announced that the 5, 000 Mega Watt (MW) mark capacity has been crossed by the grid-connected solar power generation of India. At the moment, Government has set aspiring plan to achieve 175 Giga Watt (GW) of power generation capacity from renewable sources by 2022.

  • This contains 100 GW from solar and 60 GW from wind.
  • Union Government has increased the solar power generation capacity under the National Solar Mission (NSM) addition target by five times from 20, 000 MW to 100 GW by 2022.
