Bangladesh Bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny are Suspended by ICC for Illegal Bowling Action [ Current Affairs ]


The Bangladesh bowlers Taskin Ahmed and Arafat Sunny are suspended by the International Cricket Council (ICC) for bowling with an illegal action with an immediate effect. After independent valuations it is found that their bowling actions of is illegal and so that they are suspended.

  • All the members for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction has recognized and prescribed their Suspensions.
  • In this regard at the ICC-accredited testing centre at the Sri Ramachandran University in Chennai the assessments were performed.

In the assessment

  • Sunny’s (left-arm spinner) elbow extension for a majority of his deliveries exceeded the 15 degrees level of tolerance permitted under the ICC Regulations.
  • Tasking’s (pace spearhead) most of the deliveries were also found illegal.

Other suspended Bangladeshi bowlers were:

  • Left-arm spinner Abdur Razzak in November 2008 to March 2009.
  • Sohag Gazi in 2014 to February 2015.

  • Arafat Sunny was born on 29th September 1986.
  • He is first-class cricketer.
  • He is left-handed batsman and slow left arm orthodox bowler.
  • He has made his debut for Dhaka Division in the 2001–02 season.
  • His bowling figures in the bilateral series in 2014 was 4/29 and 4/27 against Zimbabwe in consecutive ODIs.

  • He is a right-arm fast bowler and a left-handed batsman.
  • He represents Dhaka Metropolis in first-class and List A cricket and the Chittagong Kings and Chittagong Vikings franchise in the Bangladesh Premier League.
