Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme Protracted to More 61 Districts with Low Child Sex Ratio [ Current Affairs ]

The Union Government has protracted the Beti Bachao Beti Padho Scheme in supplementary 61 districts across 11 States and Union Territories with low Child Sex Ratio, the Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi has announced it at New Delhi.

About Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao Scheme:

  • The scheme is introduced with the aimed to address the issue of decreasing Child Sex Ratio and linked issues of disempowerment of women finished a life cycle continuum.
  • The main aim behind the scheme is to stop gender subjective sex selective removal by strict implementation of laws with stringent punishment to violators.
  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched this scheme in January 2015 from Haryana in 100 districts of the country to report the issue of decreasing Child Sex Ratio.
  • The nodal agency for the implementation of the scheme is the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD).
