Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for North-East Has Been Announced by Union Government

The Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 for north-east India has been announced by Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas (MoPNG) . The Hydrocarbon Vision 2030 is about to control the hydrocarbon sector for social and economic development of the north-east region listed as follow.

  • Assam,
  • Arunachal Pradesh,
  • Meghalaya,
  • Manipur,
  • Nagaland,
  • Sikkim,
  • Mizoram and
  • Tripura.

About the Hydrocarbon Vision 2030:

Objective: The main objective hydrocarbon Vision 2013 is to control hydrocarbon potential, improve availability of petroleum products, enhance access clean fuels, facilitate economic development and link common people to the economic activities in this north-east regions. Also to develop detailed roadmap for the entire hydrocarbons value chain, covering all aspects of upstream, midstream and downstream segments of this sector.

The Vision relies on five pillars of 5Ps

  • People,
  • Policy,
  • Partnership,
  • Projects and
  • Production.

People: Predicts approachability of clean fuel to households in this region and also adoptive skill development and local community involvement.

Policy: Give Attention on development of areas such as moderation of specific terrain and weather conditions of the region with fund planning for new projects.

Partnership: Concentrate on better connection of state governments from this region in planning and implementation and also enhancing trade with neighboring nations.

Projects: Give attention on pipeline connectivity for carrying natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) , petroleum products, oil and lubricants (POL) and also in building refineries and import links along with development of compressed natural gas (CNG) highways and city gas distribution network.

Production: Give weights for technology deployment, production enhancement contracts and fast-track clearance along with development of service provider hubs.

The vision also focuses on other areas such as discovering hydrocarbon linkages and trade opportunities with bordering countries like Bangladesh, Myanmar, Nepal and Bhutan.

And the main goal is:

  • Double Oil and Gas production up to 2030,
  • Fast tracking projects,
  • Generating employment opportunities and
  • Encouraging cooperation with bordering countries.
