The Executive Directors of the World Bank have re-appointed Jim Yong Kim as President for a second five-year term, the new term starts from 1 July 2017. He was the only candidate in a process.

About Jim Yong Kim

  • Born on 8th December 1959 at Seoul in South Korea.
  • South Korean-American physician and anthropologist.
  • Appointed as 12th president of World Bank in 2012 (succeeding Robert Zoellick).
  • Served as Chair of Department of Global Health and Social Medicine at Harvard Medical School and as is regarded as a global health leader.
  • Listed in world’s 50th most powerful Index in 2013 by the Forbes Magazine.
  • Co-founded Dartmouth College and served as its executive director from 2009 to 2012.
  • First Asian American to become the president of an Ivy League institution.
  • Completed his graduation with magna cum laude in human biology during 1982.
  • Completed M.D. in 1991 from Harvard Medical School.
  • Awarded PhD in anthropology at Harvard University in 1993.
