The Mohun Bagan FC has conferred club’s highest award Mohun Bagan Ratna (jewel) on legendary Indian Footballer Syed Nayeemuddin. He became 16th recipient of the prestigious award that is bestowed upon person for making seminal contribution to the success of the club.

  • Syed Nayeemuddin is former football player and Indian football team coach.
  • Syed Nayeemuddin had captained the Indian national football team that had won the bronze medal at the 1970 Asian Games.
  • Syed Nayeemuddin was appointed coach of India football team in 1997.
  • He won the South Asian Football Federation Cup by beating the Maldives 5–1 and reached the semi-finals of the Nehru Cup for the first time.
