Nomination of General John Nicholson as the commander of the NATO forces in Afghanistan has been conferred by the US Senate Armed Services Committee. He will replace commander US General John Campbell after his retirement. When Afghanistan needed serious concerns about the security situation his appointment is conferred as the commander of the NATO forces of Afghanistan.

About John Nicholson

  • John William Nicholson is a United States Army lieutenant general.
  • He is son of John W. Nicholson a former general officer in the United States Army.
  • He was serving as US Army commander of NATO land forces (since October 2014) before his appointment as the commander of the NATO forces of Afghanistan.
  • He has also served as the commander of the 82nd Airborne Division.
