Pinky Balhara Earns Bronze Medal in 5th Asian Beach Games [ Current Affairs - Sports ]


In 5th Asian Beach Games, Pinky Balhara of India has won bronze medal in women’s 52kg Kurash category. The games were held at Da Nang, Vietnam. Nguyen Thi Thanh Thuy of Vietnam won the gold medal in same category.

Total 208 Indian members participated in the 5th Asian Beach Games in 13 different sports including Kabaddi, Swimming, Handball, Pencak Silat, Kurash, Woodball, Sambo, Ju-Jitsu, Pentaque, Sepaktakraw, Shuttlecock, Voninam and Muay Thai.

About Kurash

  • Form of wrestling from Uzbekistan.
  • Played between two opponents with green and blue jackets
  • Opponents try to throw the other on the ground.
  • If a participant throws down his opponent backward, then he/she is declared victorious.
  • If the opponent is thrown to one side, then points are awarded.
