Scientists Introduced New Laser Developed from Fluorescent Jellyfish Proteins [ Current Affairs ]

()

Scientists has created history by introducing new LASER (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) from fluorescent jellyfish proteins for the first time ever, it were grown in bacteria.

  • It is a major advance innovation in polariton lasers operating at room temperature.

Laser

  • “A light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (LASER) is a device which produces light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation.”
  • Laser is releases light coherently so that it is different from other lights.

Polariton Laser

  • Polariton laser is a different kind of laser which is works by passing photons back and forth between excited molecules.

Key Facts

  • Scientists had designed barrel shaped fluorescent proteins from jellyfish DNA to innovate the fluorescent Polariton laser.
  • They had filled this protein in optical micro cavities between two mirrors, before revealing them to optical pumping.
  • Blue light’s nanosecond flashes from an external laser were used to boost the system up to the essential energy to create laser light.
  • When the threshold reached for polariton lasing, more energy was pushed into the device setup by scientist that caused conventional lasing.
  • These lasers are able to be far more effective and compressed than conventional ones.
  • This laser could also reveal the research paths in quantum physics and optical computing.
  • It uses less energy as compared to conventional lasers.
  • It can be used in effectual optical communications or in medical lasers that are less destroyer to living tissue.
