CSC: What were the basic mantras of your success?

Amit Khatri: Hard work, devotion to studies and adhering to my mentor's advice, and parent's support and God's grace made this possible.

CSC: What were your optional? What where the basis of selecting these optional?

Amit Khatri: Prelims Chemistry

Mains Geography & Public Administration

I chose Chemistry because of the comfort level with the subject since my school days, however for mains I was not comfortable with it hence I chose Geography and Public

I chose Chemistry because of the comfort level with the subject since my school days, however for mains I was not comfortable with it hence I chose Geography and Public Ad.

CSC: Whom would you credit your success?

Amit Khatri: I would like to thank my parents for their sacrifices and support in ensuring the best possible education for me. God helped me through luck factor and helped me stay optimistic. My friends at NADT and in Delhi also lent me emotional support and I would especially like to mention my batchmate and cousin Seema Dhankhar and Dinesh Rana for their support.

CSC: In your opinion, new pattern introduced by UPSC from 2011 is better than the previous one?

Amit Khatri: I think that the change in exam pattern is in tune with changing times with greater stress on multi-dimensional personality that couldn't be accurately assessed solely by theoretical knowledge based on single optional.

CSC: Since when have you begun reading Civil Services Chronicle magazine?

Amit Khatri: I started reading Civil Services Chronicle magazine when I had initially started my Civil Services Preparation.
