After the continuous row by Hindi medium students with respect to IAS prelims CSAT Paper II, government has come up with amendments in UPSC examination. As per the amendments, the English comprehension marks will not be included in the examination. Also the students who have appeared in 2011 examination will be given one extra chance to appear in 2015 examination as per the news released by Jitendra Singh, Minister of State.
The demand of the students state that the changes in IAS examination have been brought to give a level-playing field for rural area students, but if english is compulsory, its of no use. Therefore, considering this preposition, committee has decided not to add the marks of English comprehension in CSAT prelims for merit basis.
The CSAT-II paper originally carries questions on comprehension, interpersonal skills including communication skills, logical reasoning and analytical ability, decision-making and problem- solving, general mental ability, basic numeracy, and English language comprehension skills (of Class X level).
