Nine steps to register for an IELTS test

  1. Get to know your nearest IELTS centre. Look for the dates of the test that are suitable to you and the deadline to register for the. Also look for the fees you need to pay in local currency on the IELTS Worldwide Search

  2. Check with your organisation or on the Global Recognition System whether you need to sit an Academic or General Training test.

  3. Get a Print out of the IELTS Application Form. You may also get it in a hard copy form from your nearest test centre. On the form, do read the information for candidates, terms and conditions, complete the form and sign it. Please make sure you have a valid postal address and use the same name as on your passport. You may also be able to register online. Look at the test centre's website for the same, if you can do so.

  4. You got to submit two passport-sized photographs which are less than six months old. Sign on the back of each photograph. Remember you shouldn't wear glasses in the photographs you submit for IELTS registration.

  5. Also a photocopy of your current passport id required. The passport should not be expired one (However some centres will accept a national identity card.).

  6. If you want your results to be sent automatically to a university or educational institution, please include the correct details in the section on the IELTS Application Form.

  7. You got to submit the filled application form along with the fees to your IELTS test centre. If you have submitted it online, you need to talk to your centre about the method of payment.

  8. Once you have registered, the test centre will confirm your IELTS test date, time and venue. Speaking test can take place up to 7 days before or after the test date.

  9. On the test day, you must bring the same passport or national identity card that you entered on the IELTS Application Form.
