KVPY Selection Process

There are two stages in which KVPY exam is conducted. i.e.. Aptitude test followed by interview.

Aptitude Test

Out of the various forms of applications received, the eligible candidates are choosen on the basis of their performance in the Board Examination. They are called for a written aptitude test. This test is conducted both in Hindi and English languages at various centers across the country in the month of November every year. The details regarding the centre venue and the seat number is published on the KVPY website usually during the first week of October 2016.

At the first stage written Aptitude test (multiple choice) is normally conducted in the first week of November at different centers across the country.

The venue details of the test are uploaded on the KVPY website in the month of October.

The test is of maximum marks 100 with 80 questions with no negative marking and the weightage of the test is 75%.

Admit Card

Students who have applied online may download the admit card for the aptitude test from the website from the second week of October 2012.

For students who have applied for the test through a application form as a hard copy, the admission cards will be sent to them by speed post.


Based on the performance in the aptitude test, short-listed students will be invited for an interview. This is the final stage of the selection procedure.

The second stage is Interview and students who successfully completed first stage will be call for interview which is the final stage of the selection procedure.
