PRAXIS II English Language, Literature, and Composition Content Knowledge Exam

The vital purpose of this exam is to test competencies for licensure as a secondary school English teacher. Two hours will be provided, to complete 120 multiple-choice questions exam. The exam consists of 36 questions based on composition and rhetoric, 18 questions based on language and linguistics and 66 questions based on reading as well as understanding text.

Reading and Understanding Text: This section deals with your understanding and knowledge of different instructional approaches to the teaching of reading, interpretation of historical and cultural text, identification of major literary works and authors, identification of patterns, structures, features of literary forms, identifying and interpreting figurative language, other literary elements and paraphrasing, comparing and interpreting different forms of writing.

Language and Linguistics: This section deals with your understanding and knowledge of the elements of semantics, grammar, history and development of the English language, principles of language acquisition and development of dialects, also historical, social and cultural influences of language are also included.

Composition and Rhetoric: This section deals with your understanding and knowledge of the purpose, organization, strategy and methods of writing. Examinee skills of writing instruction and examining a student writing will also be there in this section.
