Praxis II Social Sciences Content Knowledge Exam by ETS
The exam is aimed to design for those individuals who wants to teach social sciences at the secondary level. Two hours will be provided to you, to complete 120 multiple choice questions. There will be 24 questions covering cultural anthropology, 48 questions covering psychology and 48 questions covering sociology.
- Cultural Anthropology: This section will cover and focus on economic systems, cultural change, social stratification, marriage and family relationships, organization of society along with the function and development of language. Questions regarding cultural characteristics, human culture, belief systems, the supernatural, the origin and evolution of human culture and the effects of globalization will be covered in this section. Your knowledge of mechanisms of change, the culture and history of anthropology and the sub fields of cultural anthropology will be tested in this section.
- Psychology: This section will cover and focus on motivation, intelligence, achievement, social psychology, personality development, personality theory, behavior, individuality, emotional development, cognitive development, human growth and development throughout the lifespan. Your knowledge of biological and cognitive processes, biological behavioral influences and; perception and sensation will be tested and will include questions regarding prevention and intervention of behavioral issues in the classroom. Knowledge of atypical behaviors such as autism, anxiety disorders, hyperactivity, personality disorders and psychotic disorders and their treatments is also tested.
- Sociology: This section will cover and focus on contemporary social issues, human ecology, demographics, social inequality, aging, power, sex, gender roles, social patterns, social growth, occupations, professions, social stratification and social class. Your knowledge of influences such as medicine, family, religion, politics, economics and education on society will be tested in this section. Questions regarding deviance, conformity, organizations, groups, the socialization process and sociological theory will be covered in this section.
