Dholavira

  • Kutchch in Gujarat.
  • Discovered by J. P. Joshi in 1967 - 68.
  • Excavated by R. S Bisht in 1991.
  • It has two parts: Citadel and Lower Town.
  • Excellent water management system with huge water reservoirs and check dams.
  • Elaborate stone gateways and rounded columns.
  • A scale made of buffalo bone has also been found.
  • The city was colorful probably pink and white with walls, roads, floors and roof decorated with colorful clay.
  • A public place has been found in the heart of the city which could be a stadium, a coronation ground, a market or an amphitheater.
  • Unlike the other 1-Harappan towns, which were divided into two parts the Dholavira was divided into three part Citadel, Middle Town and Lower Town. The first two were strongly protected by rectangular fortifications.

Balakot

  • Near Las Bela, Somani Gulf in Karachi.
  • Pre-Harappan and mature Harappan site.
  • Discovered by George F. Dales in 1979.
  • A citadel has been found.
  • Store jar has also been found.
  • Big houses existed with bathrooms.
  • Centre of shell and bead making.

Allahdino

  • Coastal Karachi.
  • Discovered by W. A. Fairservis.

Desalpur

  • On the banks of Bhadar river at Gunthali (Bhuj) in Gujarat.
  • Discovered by P. P Pandya and MA Dhakey.
  • Pre-Harappa, Harappa and Post-Harappa site.
  • A massive fort found.

Rojdi

  • Near Rajkot in Saurashtra.
  • Pre-Harappa, Harappa and Post-Harappa site.
