National Overseas Scholarships in Science from Ministry of Tribal Affairs

Introduction

The National Overseas Scholarships in Science from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs gives an opportunity to deserving candidates to pursue higher education in a country outside India in respective fields of Engineering, Technology and Science.

The Ministry of Tribal Affairs, an offshoot of the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment was established in October 1999. The Ministry was set up having an objective of providing greater focus on the overall social and economic development of the scheduled tribes of our country.

The National Overseas Scholarships in Science from the Ministry of Tribal Affairs is awarded with respect to the fields of study stated below:

  • Biotechnology or Genetic Engineering.

  • Industrial Environmental Engineering.

  • Nanotechnology.

  • Marine Engineering.

  • Petrochemical Engineering.

  • Plastic Technology.

  • Cryogenic Engineering.

  • Mechatronics.

  • Automation Robotics or Artificial Intelligence.

  • Laser Technology.

  • Low Temperature Thermal Dynamics.

  • Optometry.

  • Art Restoration Technology.

  • Dock and Harbor Engineering.

  • Imaging System Technology.

  • Composite Materials Engineering.

  • Packaging Engineering or Technology.

  • Nuclear Engineering.

  • Information Technology or Computer Engineering.

  • Software.

  • Software Quality Assurance.

  • Network or Connectivity Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should be below 35 years of age

  • For post doctoral scholarships, candidates should have obtained atleast 50% marks in post graduation and PHD.

Minimum REquirements

Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years teaching experience in the related field of study

  • For PHD scholarships candidates should have obtained atleast 50% marks in post graduation. Candidates must have a minimum of 2 years teaching or research or professional experience or M. Phil in the respective field of study.

  • For post graduation scholarships candidates should have obtained atleast 50% marks in graduation and must have a minimum of 2 years work experience in the respective field.

  • The total monthly income of candidates, parents, guardians should not exceed Rs. 18, 000/-. Mandatory documentary proof in this regard must be filed.

Duration

  • The post-doctoral fellowships are for a time period of 18 months.

  • The PHD fellowships are for a time period of 36 months.

  • The fellowships for post-graduation degrees are for a time period of 24 months.

Valuation of Scholarship

  • The grant under the Fellowship Scheme will cover tuition fees and other educational expenses i.e.. Living expenses and travel expenses.

  • Airfare is provided to only those candidates who have a post graduation degree in technical, engineering and science subjects.
