Introduction

The American Society of Travel Agents Scholarships forms a crucial part of the educational and career development programs, by the American Society of Travel Agents.

The American Society of Travel Agents also known as ASTA is known worldwide as the world՚s largest organization of travel professionals. Association members include travel agents and companies concerned with the travel industry, Formed as the American Steamship and Tourist Agent՚s Association in 1931, ASTA has members in 140 countries across the world.

The ASTA Foundation is a non-profit organization, gives more than 20 scholarships in bachelors, masters, doctoral, community college to travel school program to the deserving students. It also helps professionals who are engaged in the travel industry who seek to enhance their knowledge in this field.

Types of Scholarships

Eligibility

Candidates who are applying for the scholarships must go through with a general set of rules to make themselves eligible for a scholarship under the ASTA Foundation. Certain additional requirements are also there for some special scholarships.

David J Hallissey Memorial Scholarship

The David J Hallissey Memorial Scholarship is awarded in memory of the son of ASTA՚s past chairman, Joseph H Hallissey for conducting path-breaking research in the field of tourism. The scholarship gives opportunities to the interns to work with ASTA՚s Research Department in Alexandria, Scholarship ranging from $ 1,000 to $ 1,500 depending on the tenure of internship. There are three internship programs available every year for which the date of commencement, working hours and period of internship depends on the nature of the project undertaken.
