Charles B Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowships

Introduction

The Charles B Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowships is a fellowship award instituted by the Charles B Rangel International Affairs Program. The Charles B Rangel International Affairs Program took shape when the Howard University and the US Department came together with the goal of enriching young minds, who are interested in a career in the Foreign Service of the US Department of State. This program primarily focus on minority and the financially weak groups.

The Charles B Rangel International Affairs Graduate Fellowship helps students who aspire to embrace graduation programs in foreign issues with the long term aim of serving the US Foreign Service.

In year 2007, the Charles B Rangel program will give away 10 fellowship awards with a maximum limit of US $28, 000. Awards are given out yearly and includes tuition fees, room rents, boarding charges, cost of books and the compulsory fees for completion of 2 years master's degree.

After successful completion of the 2 years of study, the Rangel Fellow will be awarded a degree in international affairs or any other area related to the requirement of work of the Foreign Service. This degree will be conferred on him by a graduate or professional school, which is recognized by the Ralph J Bunche International Affairs Center. On completion of the Rangel Program and the Foreign Service entry requirements, the fellow will be appointed as a Foreign Service Officer.

Eligibility

  • Candidates should necessarily be the US citizens.
  • Candidates should be in the final year of their under graduate study.
  • For 2008 academic year, the candidates must have completed his/her undergraduate degree by 8th June, 2008
  • Candidates should have a grade point average of 3.2 or more on a scale of 4 while filing application.
