Aga Khan Scholarships

Aga Khan Scholarships are awarded for pursuing postgraduate studies to bright students who have no other sources of financing for their studies. Aga Khan Scholarships are awarded on 50 percent grant as well as 50 percent loan basis i.e.payback period is five years, starting 6 months after the study period.

The Aga Khan Foundation gives more preference to master's level courses, but considers PhD programmes, when doctoral degrees are essential for the career goals of the student. Requests will also be considered for travel and study awards for PhD students doing their research in third world countries on topics judged to be of interest to the Aga Khan Development Network.

Selection Norms

Awarded to the candidates who have excellent academic record, genuine financial need, got admission to a reputable institution of higher learning and who possess thoughtful and coherent educational and career plans. Candidates are also judged on their extra-curricular interests and achievements, potential to achieve their goals and likelihood to succeed in a foreign academic environment. Applicants are expected to have some years of work experience in their field of interest.


More preference will be given to those students who are under the age of 30 years.

Financial Assistance

The foundation grants tuition fees and living expenses to the students. Cost of travel will not be included. Students who avail funding from other sources will also be given preference.
