North Eastern Hill University

North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) came into existence by an Act passed by parliament on 26th May 1973. The institute has its head quarter situated at Shillong. NEHU has 28 departments with 4 centers of studies under the broadened wings of its 6 schools. This is a Central University covering all the north-eastern states and hence it has 65 under graduate colleges underneath it with 8 professional courses offered.

  • M A: Duration-4 semesters (English) & Eligibility-B. A.
  • M. Sc. Duration-4 semesters & Eligibility-B Sc
  • M. Com: Duration-4 semesters & Eligibility-B. Com.
  • M. Phil: Duration-3 semesters & Eligibility-M A/M. Sc.
  • Ph. D: Duration-5 years in all subjects available at post graduate level & Eligibility-M A/M. Sc./M. Com./M. Phil.

No undergraduate courses are available in NEHU.

NEHU has a Central Library which bags huge collection of books on number of subjects. Scholarships are also provided by NEHU to needy, brilliant and deserving students.

NEHU has a study center of IGNOU (Indira Gandhi National Open University) which offers various undergraduate courses and certificate programmes.

Application forms can be obtained from the office of the DSW, Permanent Campus, NEHU, Shillong-793022 during office hours from the month of May or June.

Candidates who appeared for MAT-Test are eligible for admission in MBA programme and are required to fill up the application form mentioning their respective MAT score. The application form with the prospectus can be obtained either individually or by post from the office of the Dean, Students Welfare, NEHU, Shilong-793022 or from the office of the Pro-Vice Chancellor, NEHU, Tura Campus Chandmari, Tura-794002, Meghalaya by paying Rs. 100 through DD in favour of North-Eastern Hill University payable at Shilong or through Challan available at NEHU, Shilong or Tura Campus.
