Pondicherry University

Pondicherry University was incorporated by the government of India in October 1985. This university stands as a representative of Indian universities to the Association of Commonwealth Universities as it is a member of the same. Being a part of this association, it has signed a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) to deal with sharing of education with foreign universities. Pondicherry University has been given honour by National Assessment and Accreditation Council with 4 star level in 1999 − 2000 for consecutive 5 years.

This university has a unique system of providing education. It follows the method of Choice Based Credit System with modular course which means it allows students to choose subjects of their choice according to their career goal. The university brims with more than 200 teaching faculties and 1530 students.

Admisssions

Admission procedure for various courses: The Application form with Prospectus for different courses is available which can be received on payment of Rs. 150/-through Demand Draft, drawn in favour of “The Finance Officer, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry” payable at Pondicherry and sent to the Director, Directorate of Distance Education, Pondicherry University, Pondicherry-605 014 along with two self-addressed slips. The candidates need to have the required qualification to get admission in respective courses. However students waiting impending results can also apply.

Applicants should thoroughly read the Prospectus before entering details in the Application form. Appropriate course code and name of the course should be mentioned in the admission form, along with preferable subjects, if any. The filled-in application form should be accompanied with the Identity Card and

photocopies of Certificates and should be sent by Registered Post using the envelope enclosed, to the Directorate on or before 30.10. 2006.
