Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore was established in 1911, July with the initiatives of Jamshedji Tata, Sir K Shesadri Iyer and Shri KrishnarajaWodeyer 4, the Maharaja of Mysore.

The institute was given a status of Deemed University in 1956.

Eligibility

The eligibility for admission in the courses are as follows:

  • Bachelor's degree holders in Engineering and Technology.

  • Bachelor's degree holders in Science, Mathematics, Electronics, Statistics, Computer Science from an institute recognized by UPSC/AICTE as equivalent to BE or BTech.

  • For M Des program: Bachelor's degree holders in Architecture, Design.

  • For MTech program: Master's degree holders in Mathematics, Statistics, Instrumentation, Physics, Chemistry, Biology.

  • For M Des program: Candidates should qualify in the respective paper in Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) or Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED) and should have the valid score cards.

Selection Procedure

The selection procedure is given below:

  • MTech Program: Instrumentation: Selection is based on GATE score and rank/
  • Electronics Design & Technology: Post screening based on GATE marks, an aptitude test and interview are conducted in the month of April 2007.
  • Computational Science: Aptitude test and interview are conducted during April after the screening is done on the basis if GATE score. Selection will be based on performance in the aptitude interview and test.
  • MDES Program: Design aptitude test and interview are conducted after screening based on GATE, CEED marks at the Institute during the month of April and selection will be based on performance in the aptitude test and interview.
