Courses Offered at National Brain Research Center & Their Eligibility Criteria

PhD in Neuroscience

  • PhD programmes admission require a minimum of a Master՚s degree in any one of the science related subjects like Pharmacy, Mathematics, Veterinary Science, Psychology or others.
  • However Master՚s degree in Engineering, Technology, and Medicine is also accepted.
  • The institute provides the flexibility in the admission norm upto the extent that if the candidate is appearing for the final year exam of Master՚s Degree, he is eligible to apply.

Integrated PhD in Neuroscience

  • To get admission, the candidate needs to have a Bachelor՚s degree in any field of Science like Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Applications, Pharmacy, Veterinary Science, Psychology or others.

Post Doctoral Fellowship

  • The candidate has to clear an entrance test conducted by the institute for Fellowship programme. However for this, the minimum qualification required is to have a PhD degree in any branch of Science such as Engineering, Maths, Psychology or any subject related to the Neuroscience.

Application Procedure at National Brain Research Center

  • Online registration facility is available in which applications have to be submitted online while demand draft and photocopies of the certificates are to be sent by post which should be accompanied by the copy of acknowledgement of the online application.
  • Application forms can be collected from the Academics Section, NBRC in person. One can also avail the form by post for which a demand draft of ₹ 50 has to be sent, drawn in favor of Director, NBRC payable at Manesar/Gurgaon.
  • The duly-filled in forms along with copies of qualifying examination, one passport size photograph and application fee are to be sent to the Registrar, National Brain Research Centre, NH-8, Manesar-122050.
  • Application Fees amounts to ₹ 750 and ₹ 850 for online and offline applications respectively. The SC/ST candidates have to pay ₹ 200 for the same by the 3rd week of January.
  • Incomplete application forms are rejected.

Entrance Test

  • Appearance in the entrance test is not required if the candidate is qualified for JRF (Junior Research Fellowship) in CSIR, UGC, ICMR or any other national examination.
  • The entrance tests for both PhD and Integrated PhD programmes are conducted in the last week of February for which cities of Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata and Pune serve as main test centers.
  • The entrance examination is an objective examination consisting of Multiple Choice Analytical questions.
  • The candidate is called up for a two-tier interview at NRBC, on the basis of which selection is done, if the candidate is short-listed in the Entrance Test.
