The exam is approximately of three hours and comprises of two parts-multiple choice and grid-in, and free response. From each section 50% is worth for the final exam grade.

Questions will be based on your understanding of the ideas, enduring understandings, essential knowledge and application of the same through the science practices. These include questions on the following:

  • Use of modeling methods to explain the principles of biology
  • Use of mathematical processes to explain concepts
  • Making of predictions and the justification of phenomena
  • Implementation of experimental design
  • Interpretation as well as manipulation of data

Section I: Multiple Choice-1 hour and 30 minutes

  • Part A − 63 Multiple Choice Questions
  • Part B − 6 Grid-In Questions

The grid-in questions will focus on the clubbing of science and mathematical skills. For this you have to calculate the correct answer for each and every question and enter it in the grid on the answer sheet.

Total scores of the multiple-choice section will be based on the number of correct answers. Points are neither deducted for incorrect answers nor points are awarded for unanswered questions.

Section II: Free Response-8 Questions; 1 hour and 20 minutes plus a compulsory 10 minute reading period

  • Part A − 2 Long Questions
  • Part B − 6 Short Questions
