Indian Institute of Management Ranchi is a college of management situated in Ranchi, Jharkhand. It is one of the ninth Indian Institute of Management to be inaugurated and to run on the lines of University of Chicago Booth School of Business.
The college is functioning from a temporary campus in Suchana Bhavan, behind the Governor House premises in heart of Ranchi. The construction of a permanent campus has been initiated at Birhar village on the Khunti-Karra road, around 35 kilometres (22 mi) from Ranchi. In September 2011, the Government of Jharkhand decided that inspite of the original 214 acres (87 ha) of land allotted, only 76 acres (31 ha) of land will be taken from Birsa Agricultural University.
IIM Ranchi awards only diplomas and not degrees, just like other IIMs. The programs are post graduate programs at a level equivalent to MBA and PHD and comprise a standard post graduate diploma in management i.e.. PGDM, A full-time doctoral programme i.e.. FPM and also a part time executive program i.e.. PGEXP. In the beginning of July 2012, IIM Ranchi will ultimately become the first IIM in the country in providing PGDM-HR.
Regarding the admission to courses at IIM Ranchi is based on the merit in Common Admission Test organised by the various IIMs by a policy of rotation. It must be noted that, It has the highest cut-off across all IIMs of 99.66 percentile.
In IIM Ranchi, The PGP course is delivered by the world renounced faculty of IIM Calcutta in its formative years.
