Definition of Noisy Channels & Its Types

  • Noisy Channel:

    Noisy Channel means that there will be lot of disturbance in the path when data is carried forward from sender to receiver.

  • Types:

    • Sequence Numbers

    • Go-Back-N Automatic Repeat Request

    • Selective Repeat Automatic Repeat Request

Types of Noisy Channel

  • Sequence Numbers:

    • When data will be sent, special sequence numbers will be added to the field of the data. So that receiver can have a check that data is received fully or missed some of the data packets.

    • Go-Back-N Automatic Repeat Request with selective request:

  • Here only lost data in the past that receiver has not received, will be sent again to the receiver.
