Economic Survey 2018 - 19

  • India՚s demographic dividend will be at its peak around the year 2041.
  • The share of people in the age group of 20 - 59 is expected to reach 59 % of the total population.

Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY)

  • Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) has been implementing its flagship scheme through NSDC.
  • Aim to provide skill training to 10 million youth by 2020.
  • The evaluation study of PMKVY 2016 - 20 by NSDC indicates that individuals trained and certified under Short Term Training are 1.8 times more likely to get employed and there is an increase in employment and avg. monthly income of skilled youth.
  • A total of 16.62 lakh candidates across the country found placement.
  • Youth are provided with short-term training in industry-relevant skills.
  • Vocational training is also imparted to illiterate, neo-literates, and school dropout youths through 233 public education institutes as per local market՚s requirement.
  • About 34.14 lakh youth have been trained through short term training. Out of this 28.36 lakh youth have got employment.

Recognition of Prior Learning Program

The skills of 33.20 lakh youth have been certified, out of which around 27.36 lakh youth have got jobs.

Fund of Fund for Start-Ups

  • To provide financial assistance to start-ups the govt. has created a ‘Fund of Funds for Start-ups.’
  • A corpus of ₹ 10,000 crore in the SIDBI which has committed over ₹ 3123 crore in 47 SEBI Registered Alternative Investment Funds (AIFs) till 22 December 2019.
  • A general fund of ₹ 25,728 crore has been raised through these funds.

AatmaNirbhar Skilled Employee-Employer Mapping (AsEEM)

  • Launched by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSME) .
  • Under the ‘Self-reliant India Campaign.’
  • This portal provides real time data of skilled workforce based on demand and supply.

Skills Build Reignite

  • Launched by the Directorate General of Training in June 2020.
  • A free digital learning platform.
  • An MoU with IBM.

Pradhan Mantri Yuva Udyamita Vikas Abhiyan (PMYUA)

  • To promote young entrepreneurs.
  • Under the implementation of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
  • Training, mentoring and other support for setting up enterprises is provided to young entrepreneurs.
  • Being implemented on a pilot basis in selected districts of 10 states and two union territories.
  • The trainees and alumni of ITIs, Polytechnic Colleges and Public Educational Institutions.

Agricultural Reforms Passed in Parliament

  • Three laws have been passed.
  • Farmers have got access to many facilities and the freedom to sell their products to anyone anywhere.
  • Setting up new enterprises and start-ups in the field of agriculture.
  • Freedom to sell Agri-produce anywhere beside the mandis, e-platforms.
  • Will provide opportunities to young entrepreneurs to thrive in agriculture sector.

Essential Commodities Act:

  • The warehousing, cold storage and processing units are set to expand in the private sector.
  • Due to abolishing the storage limit of produce like cereals, potatoes, and onions.
  • Will open new dimensions of entrepreneurship-development in this field.

AatmaNirbhar Bharat Abhiyan

  • A provision of an agricultural infrastructure fund with a corpus of ₹ 1 lakh crore.
  • Aims to transform the condition and direction of this field.
  • Infrastructure facilities such as warehouses, cold storages and food processing units will be set up in the rural areas.
  • Creation of a huge opportunity for entrepreneurship development in the agriculture sector.
  • A provision of ₹ 10,000 crore to formalize micro food enterprises with the resolution of ‘Vocal for Local’ .
  • A provision of ₹ 500 crore for Operation Greens to help in cold storage, transportation, and processing of vegetables like potato, onion, and tomato.

PM Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan

  • 32 Crore Mandays created & ₹ 31,500 crore spent.
  • 21,595 Work related to solid and liquid waste management undertaken.
  • 2,123 Gram Panchayat provided internet connectivity.
  • 62,824 candidates provided skill training through Krishi Vigyan Kendra.

Structures created under the scheme:

  • 132146 water conservation structures.
  • 4.12 lakh rural houses.
  • 35,529 cattle shed.
  • 25,689 farm ponds.
  • 16,253 Community Sanitary Complex.
  • 7,340 works taken up through District Mineral Funds.

Deendayal Upadhyay Grameen Kausalya Yojana (DDU-GKY)

  • 10.51 lakh youth have received training in the country in the last six years.
  • 6.65 lakh trained youth have got the employment.
  • Ministry of Rural Development released about ₹ 1215 crore for skill development and training in rural areas in 2018 - 19. More than ₹ 1418 crores were spent on it in 2019 - 20.

Start-Up Village Entrepreneurship Programme (SVEP)

  • Launched in 2016 by the Ministry of Rural Development under Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana-National Rural Livelihood Mission (DAY-NRLM) .
  • To empower women entrepreneurs in the villages.
  • It has so far provided business support services and necessary capital raising in 153 blocks across 23 states.
  • According to a mid-term review of SVEP conducted by the Quality Council of India in September 2019,82 % of this scheme՚s entrepreneurs SCs, STs and backward classes.
  • 75 % of the enterprises are owned and managed by women.
