A Total of 19 medals were won by the Team India at World Skills International Competition 2019 held in Kazan, Russia. The 19 medals include one Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze medals along with 15 Medallions of Excellence across key skills. The Competition took place in Kazan on 22 - 27 August 2019. The event was held at the KAZAN EXPO International Exhibition Centre involving more than 1,500 Experts evaluating the Competitors’ work.

World Skills International Competition

  • It is a flagship event of the World Skills International being organised every two years.

  • This event is also the biggest vocational education and skills excellence event in the world.

  • The World Skills International Competition 2019 was the 45th event.

  • As many as 1,600 young professionals representing more than 60 countries participated in the 45th World Skills Competition.

  • World Skills India is an initiative of the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) started under the aegis of Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.

India’S Performance Overview

  • Out of 63 countries who took part in the global competition, India finished at the 13th spot.

  • In 2017, India finished at the 19th position at Abu Dhabi by winning 11 medals.

  • The completion was organised in 56 skills across a wide range of industries.

  • The competition in 56 skills comprised of various industries from joinery to floristry; hairdressing to electronics; and auto body repair to the bakery.

  • Some of the candidates are Aswatha Narayana Sanagavarapu from Odisha won Gold in Water Skill Technology, Pranav Udayark Nutalapati from Karnataka won Silver in Web Technologies, Shweta Ratanpura from Maharashtra won Bronze in Graphics Design Technology and Govind Kumar Sonkar from Uttar Pradesh won Medallion of Excellence in Car Painting.
