World record holder Shahzar Rizvi claimed India’s 1st medal at ongoing ISSF World Cup, winning 10m air pistol silver. He belonged to IAF Shooting team. At CWG, Mitharwal’s 2 bronze medals had come in 10m air pistol & 50m pistol events, while Rai had won 10m air pistol gold.

ISSF World Cup Was Held at South Korea

  • Gold medalist of event Artem Chernousov of Russia scored 240.0 points whereas Rizvi scored 239.8 point in final round.

  • In 24-shot final, Rizvi was 0.2 adrift of Russian before final shot.

  • Rizvi shot score of 582 out of 600 to make it to eight-man final in 6th place. CWG gold-medallist Rai & bronze-medallist Mitharwal finished 38th & 11thw/scores of 575 & 581.

  • With Rizvi’s silver, India got onto board at Changwon International Shooting Centre w/8 more finals left to play over next 5 competition days.

  • Earlier, Shahzar Rizvi clinched gold medal w/world record score in memorable maiden ISSF World Cup appearance held at Guadalajara in Mexico on 3rd March, 2018.

  • Their Meerut-based Rizvi shot world record 242.3 in 10m air pistol event’s final to beat reigning Olympic champion Christian Reitz of Germany, 239.7, to win top prize.
