India Water Week – 2017 was organized on October 10, 2017 in New Delhi with about 1500 delegates from India and 13 other countries. Theme of India Water Week – 2017 is “Water and Energy for Inclusive Growth”.

  • International five-day event

  • It is 5th edition of India Water Week (IWW)

  • Will be a multi-disciplinary conference showcasing technologies and solutions with following components:

    • Water, food, and energy security believed to be essential requirement for sustainable development.

    • Water for inclusive growth

    • Sustainable energy development, which is key for all round economic growth.

    • Water and society

  • Large group of international and national persons will share experiences in the water and power management, technical and sociological interventions for achieving water and energy security

  • Expert professional bodies and think tanks will put side events addressing specific issues.

The Business to Business Exhibition “India Water Expo 2017”

The exhibition is co-located with the conference to focus on the latest technologies providing solutions to the water management issues- promoting Make in India and Indian employment.

About World Water Day

  • Water Resources are must for growth and prosperity, thus in 2011, Ministry of Water Resources organized first national level of celebrations which have now transformed to international level on the lines of the events taking place at Singapore and Stockholm.

  • Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation organized first international India Water Week in 2012. Four editions of India Water Week have been organized so far in 2012, 2013, 2015 and 2016.

Importance of World Water Day

  • Water and energy essential for any efforts for social upliftment and economic growth.

  • Increasing demand due to growing population and economic status puts huge pressure on the resources stretching the same water to satisfy larger needs.

  • Urgency to conserve and utilize the limited availability of water resources in optimum, efficient, and equitable manner.

  • The day strives for better understanding of issues and cooperation among all stakeholders through comprehensive and integrated approach.
