Dipika Pallikal Karthik and Saurav Ghosal won the 73rd Senior National Squash Championship in women’s and men’s single categories respectively. 73rd Senior National Squash Championship was held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

Men’s Singles Result

  • Ghosal won the Senior National Squash Championship in men’s single categories.
  • By 11 - 7, 7 - 11, 3 - 11, 11 - 8, 14 - 12 score he defeated Harinderpal Singh Sandhu.
  • Saurav Ghosal created a history by winning the title for the 11th time.
  • He broke the previous record of RK Narpat Singh’s 10 titles win.
  • RK Narpat Singh’s won 10 titles from 1946 to 1955.

Women’s Singles Result

  • Dipika Pallikal Karthik won the Senior National Squash Championship in women’s single categories.
  • By 4 - 11, 11 - 6, 11 - 2, 11 - 8 score, she defeated defending champion Joshna Chinappa.
  • She won the national title in 2011 and changed the complexion of the game with inspiring shots in the second game to get back into the match.
  • She won first title in 2011and this was her second title.

  • Dipika Pallikal Karthik born on 21 September 199 in Chennai.
  • She is an Indian squash player and she is the first Indian to break into the top 10 in the PSA Women’s rankings.
  • Her mother also played international cricket in the Indian women’s team.
  • She played her first international tournament in London.
  • She won sixth grade and several tournaments on the European Junior Squash Circuit.
  • In 2012, she became the first Indian ever to reach the summit clash of a Silver event in New York.
  • In 2016 South Asian Games, she was part of the gold medal winning Indian Women’s team.
  • She trains at the ICL-TNSRA Academy at Chennai under Cyrus Poncha and Major (rtd) S. Maniam.
  • Her coach Sarah Fitz-Gerald is the six time world champion

  • Saurav Ghosal born on 10 August 1986 in Kolkata, West Bengal.
  • He is a professional squash player from India and reached a career World No. 15 in 2013.
  • He completed his schooling at in Kolkata Lakshmipat Singhania Academy.
  • He became the first Indian to reach the Quarter finals of the World Squash Championship at Manchester, England in 2013.
  • Saurav won the silver medal (individual singles) in the 17th Asian Games at Incheon in 2014.
