Recent protests in Algeria and Sudan. Protesters and militaries are at a stand-off. A possibility that protests could move to other Arab countries as well.

- Spread to other countries including Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Libya, Bahrain and Syria.
- Tunisia overthrew Zine El Abidine Ben Ali՚s dictatorship.
- The country transitioned to a multi-party democracy.
Causes of the Arab Spring
- The economic model based on patronage.
- Popular longing for freedom from their repressive regimes.
- The key driving force was pan-Arabist anger against the old system.
- The protests were transitional in nature.
