India’s Deepika Kumari has reached to the equivalent of world record in Women’s Recurve event at the qualifying stage of Archery World Cup held in Shanghai, China with recorded a score of 686 out of 720 to finish 1st in qualifiers and equal the world.

  • And with this she has equalled the record set by South Korea’s Ki Boe Bae at the World University Games in Gwangju in 2015.
  • With her performance at the Copenhagen World Championships in 2015 Deepika has previously qualified for the 2016 Rio Olympics scheduled to be held in August 2016.
  • Deepika had won silver medals consecutively in 2011, 2012 and 2013 in the women’s individual events at the previous editions of the World Cup.

  • Deepika Kumari was born on 13th June 1994 at Ranchi, Bihar.
  • She is ranked at World No. 7 athlete archery.
  • Previously she also ranked at world number one.
  • In the women’s individual recurve event she won a gold medal in the 2010 Commonwealth games.
  • She also won a gold medal in the same competition in the women’s team recurve event along with Dola Banerjee and Bombayala Devi.
  • She was also qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, where she contested in the Women’s Individual and Women’s team events, finishing in eighth place in the latter.
  • She has also conferred with Arjun Award in 2012.
  • She also honored with FICCI sportsperson of the year Award in 2014.
  • In 2016 she was conferred with Padma Shri.
