Vice President met w/Vice President & Acting President of Botswana, at President Office of Botswana, in Gaborone, Botswana. They held one-to-one meeting which was followed by delegation level talks.

  • Botswana decided to join International Solar Alliance

  • India agreed to Govt. of Botswana’s request to impart Diplomatic training to Botswana’s Junior Diplomats

  • Both sides agreed to further develop & diversify trade & economic engagement, pvt. sector investment in Botswana & cooperation in areas like copper mining etc.

  • India to continue support to Botswana’s defence forces

  • Cooperation in range of areas including agricultural, ICT, energy, health, capacity building, judicial cooperation etc.

  • India to participate in extension of 2 of Botswana’s existing Railway lines thru involvement of RITES, premier GoI Undertaking

  • Both sides agreed that UNCCIT should be adopted at earliest to counter terrorism & terror financing

  • Botswana acknowledged India’s support in tele-medicine & extending e-learning & e-health project to all countries in Africa

  • MoU was signed for waiving Visa for Diplomatic Passport holders.

  • On his meet w/Vice president, he signed Visitor’s Book, at Office of President of Botswana.

Addressing Indian Diaspora:

  • Vice President addressed Indian diaspora in Botswana.

  • About 8,000 persons of Indian origin currently live in Botswana & nearly 3,000 of them are believed to have taken Botswanian nationality.
